Galaxy Research: US Will Not Buy Bitcoin Next Year
According to Galaxy Digital’s research division, the United States government will not be purchasing Bitcoin (BTC) in 2025.
This decision was shared by Alex Thorn, head of Galaxy Research, who believes that instead, the government will focus on managing its current Bitcoin holdings and discussing a potential Bitcoin reserve policy, as many expected.
Thorn shared through Galaxy Research’s X account that there may still be movement within departments and agencies to explore this expanded policy.
Thorn also mentioned that it is possible for US government agencies and departments to start looking into a potential expanded Bitcoin reserve policy.
Currently, the government holds 183,850 BTC, worth approximately US$17.36 billion (AU$27.3 billion), across 36 known addresses, according to Spot On Chain.
