Morgan Stanley to Add Crypto to its Brokerage Platform

According to reports from The Information, Morgan Stanley is considering the addition of cryptocurrency trading to its E-Trade online brokerage platform.

This move is influenced by expectations of a more favorable regulatory environment for crypto under the upcoming administration of United States President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump has promised to appoint industry-friendly leaders to key regulatory agencies and plans to make the US a global hub for cryptocurrency.

If implemented, this would make E-Trade one of the largest traditional retail brokerages to offer crypto trading, potentially posing a significant competition to existing platforms like Coinbase.

Morgan Stanley acquired E-Trade in 2020 and with its 5.2 million accounts and $360 billion in holdings, the addition of crypto trading could have a major impact.
