Strategy CEO Says US Should Buy 20% of BTC
Michael Saylor, the executive chairman of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), addressed at CPAC 2025 a crowd of investors and conservative leaders, emphasizing that the US has a unique chance to secure 20% of Bitcoin’s total supply—but only if it acts swiftly.
“The US could own 20% of the network just like that—effectively for free,” Saylor declared on stage. “The dollar would strengthen, the nation would be enriched, and we could realize a $50 trillion to $80 trillion benefit for the United States.”
Saylor didn’t hold back in his urgency, asserting that the race for Bitcoin dominance is in progress, and only one country can take the lead.
He drew parallels between Bitcoin’s potential strategic value and some of the most significant territorial acquisitions in US history. “This nation became great because of the Louisiana Purchase,” he remarked, alluding to the 1803 deal where the US acquired a third of its current landmass from France for what now seems like a nominal amount.
